Why Go Vegan – The First 6 Months

Since its official inception on the 7th January, Why Go Vegan has already achieved a number of important milestones during its first 6 months – here’s a quick resume

Conception – October/November 2024 – with a recent shift in focus away from promoting veganism from some of the main UK animal rights groups and a general drop in engagement amongst the broader vegan community, a requirement arose to present traditional veganism & free vegan educational assets to the public, along with the need to generate more engagement with regional and national vegan communities, and the idea for Why Go Vegan began to grow.

Founded – January 7th 25 – Why Go Vegan Community Interest Company registered.  During January and February the initial content for the 30 day challenge and the website is conceived, formulated and produced.

Launch Online – March 1st 25, along with our first fundraiser. Recordings for presentations, interviews and product focuses begin.

Live Launch – April 12th 25 at Bristol Vegan Fayre along with celebrities Peter Egan & Wendy Turner Webster, along with first stall and public fundraiser. To date (first 6 months of 2025) Why Go Vegan has raised £1107.50 in donations.

Website Launch – June 1st 25 along with sign ups for the 30 day challenge, and the vegan community directory including the regional and national UK vegan events and markets diary.

Posters & Flyers Published – June 2025 – posters, flyers and flyer holders begin to appear on outreach stalls and retail outlets across the UK

Podcasts – June 2025 – Founder Tim Barford appears on 2 vegan podcasts – Did Your Bring the Hummous & Toby’s Oddcast

Event announcement – June 25 – the first Plant Based Food Fest is announced to take place in London at the Kia Oval Cricket Stadium on October 11th 25 – a free event to the public focusing on introducing people to the benefits of plant based lifestyles and the vegan community.
